For the price this can't be beat; I paid $27 with free shipping at Amazon.com, wow that was a steal in my opinion. This was use as a replacement to my RaceFace bottom bracket that was only 5 months old which was ruin after 5 stream crossing. I read somewhere that a lot of people were having the same problems that I was having with RaceFace bottom brackets. So I look into getting a different bottom bracket and the Shimano M770 XT I found was compatible with RaceFace BB, so I ordered it. Haven't ridden across streams yet to see if they would hold up, but as I soon as I do I will return with feed back about how well it performed.

You can't go wrong with XT. It's light. It works. It takes abuse. This BB will feel stiff at first. That's normal for all new installs on external BB's. After some research, I found no evidence to suggest that I would get an appreciably greater performance out of a Chris King or Hope BB. On the same note, I've been very pleased with my XT Hollowtech crankset. Shifting is smooth. If you're contemplating an XTR crankset, let me caution you to think twice. You'll only wind up spending twice as much for a slightly lighter crankset with the same performance and less durability. In other words, you'll get more bike out of a Fox Fork, Chris King wheelset or frame made by Intense, Ibis, Yeti or Turner.
