This is my favorite chypre perfume. Don't be discouraged by the initial notes -- it comes on strong, and there's frankly something that's both too musky and too "department store" happening (I usually put it on relatively early in my morning routine to give it an opportunity to "calm down" before I leave the house), but what you get as it dries down and the end result are elegant, seductive, and beautiful: both woody and floral without being too much of either. I would also say that of the "Les Exclusifs" eaux de toilette, it has the most staying power, which is another plus; I felt that I was re-applying 28 La Pausa every two hours.Here's the thing: Valentine Perfume would like you to pay them $495 for a 6.8 oz bottle of 31 Rue Cambon. You could do that, or you could go to Chanel's own website and pay $210 for that exact same bottle (or, if you are determined to spend exactly $495, buy two bottles of 31 Rue Cambon and a nail polish or something from Chanel).
